About the studio
Hannah Simpson Studio is a small, independent ceramics studio based in London. We are a small team working together to create playful, characterful pieces by hand.
Everything is made in our studio, from hand-building and glazing through to finishing and packing.
We love experimenting with colour, texture and form to create pieces that bring a little bit of personality into your home.
When will a piece I like be back in stock?
We have two main collection drops each year, usually around May and November, when the majority of our new work is released.
Throughout the year, we also have smaller drops, often inspired by different seasons and holidays.
The best way to keep up with new releases is to join our mailing list, where we announce upcoming drops, and follow us on social media to see the collections come to life as we make them in the studio.
How do I commission a piece?
We love creating bespoke pieces and are currently taking on a limited number of commissions.
For monster sculptures, commissions need to be completely unique and allow us to develop a new character, rather than being an existing monster from one of our collections with small changes. We’ll ask you to share a little about what you have in mind, including the size, character and any ideas, feelings or stories you would like the piece to represent.
We also offer commissions for some of our lamps, where we can create a bespoke colour or pattern. These are made using colours we already have available in the studio and are subject to a 15% commission fee.
If you have an idea you would like to discuss, please email hannah@hannahsimpsonstudio.com and we can let you know if it is something we can create.
Lamps & bulbs
All of our lamps come with the lampshade included, but the bulb is not included.
We recommend using an E14 Mini Globe LED bulb with our lamps.
If you would like to pair a lamp base with a different colour or material of lampshade, select the ‘Base Only’ option on the product page and choose your preferred shade from our full range.
The estimated processing time for lamps is 2 weeks from order confirmation.
Each lamp is individually crafted and painted, so no two are exactly alike—celebrating the charm of handmade design.
For any questions about lamps, please email asli@hannahsimpsonstudio.com.
Can I learn to make a monster myself?
Yes! We run monster-making workshops, usually once a month between September and April. We take a break over the summer as the studio gets a little too hot!
The workshops are around four hours long and are designed to teach you how to make your very own monster. We’ll guide you through the basics of coil building and show you how to create the main base of your monster. You’ll then have an hour to completely customise your creation, adding details and personality to bring your monster to life. We’ll be there to help you through every step of the process.
Our workshops tend to sell out quickly, so the best way to hear about new dates as soon as they are released is to join our mailing list.
We can also offer private monster-making workshops for groups of 6-8. If you’re interested in booking one for a group or special occasion, email hannah@hannahsimpsonstudio.com and we can discuss the options.

My order has broken in the post. What should I do?
Breakages in transit are thankfully very rare, but if your piece arrives damaged, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
For monster breakages, please email becca@hannahsimpsonstudio.com.
For lamp breakages, please email asli@hannahsimpsonstudio.com.
Please include photos of the damaged piece and packaging when contacting us, so we can help resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Can I see your work in person?
Yes! We open the studio to the public twice a year as part of Wimbledon Art Fair, usually in May and November. During the open studio, you can visit us and explore the work of Hannah Simpson Studio alongside the other artists and makers based in the building.
We also take part in exhibitions and other events throughout the year.
We don’t currently have a showroom, and unfortunately we’re not able to accommodate studio visits outside of our open studio events.
The best way to stay up to date with upcoming exhibitions, events and open studio dates is to join our mailing list and follow us on social media.
How should I care for my piece?
Each piece is handmade from ceramic and is therefore fragile, so please handle it with care.
The best way to keep your piece clean is to gently wipe away any dust using a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid using harsh cleaning products or abrasive materials, as these could damage the surface.
We recommend keeping your piece somewhere safe and out of reach of children, and taking extra care when moving or handling it.
With a little care and attention, your piece can be enjoyed for years to come.
